Week 2 from Elder Stewy

May 21st, 2013

"jabale!

Hey everyone! So this week has been the fastest week of my life! A lot has happened. We baptized a guy named Brian, he is awesome! we were supposed to have 2 but this ladys husband said she couldnt get baptized which sucks! but we walk a lot like 7-8 miles a day. i got a blister on my lil toe lol but i killed a rat that was in our food storage that was huge and then i burned it! umm i also rode a camel this week which was really cool! i have a hard time understanding the people but im slowly learning! they say i talk fast so i talk really really slow and i feel like a weirdo but they cant understand me when i talk normal! They all speak lugandan and when i walk down the street they all yell and dance and say "mzungo bye bye" which means "bye bye white guy!" Lol the kids always run up and want to hold my hand, they are so dang cute i love them all! we have a lot of people that we talk to! we had one guy that was being so mean and wasnt getting the pristhood, and just was so dumb. So i stood up and boar my testimony to him! it was awesome like the spirit was so strong! but he was still a jerk! but we left and he wants us to come back but we probably wont because he just wants to bash! but when you bear your testimony in the name of Jesus Christ the power of the spirit overpowers you, and you know that you are gods puppet. you say what he wants you to say, i love it! but anywho, the food is good they have stuff called posho. it looks like mashed patatoes but it isnt. it has no taste, its just a filler! we go to the same resturant everyday, and the kids name is denise. he wants to go to america with me! he is funny but i gave them a cinnimon tooth pick and he freaked and loved it same with my comp lol so if you know how to make them tell me, or send them to me!
umm the church is very small here but the people are awesome. but the place is called bugembe where we tract umm its a very small town! there are shops everwhere! people are really nice and always smile and wave! the poverty here is undescricable! its sad people live in mud huts and yeah its sad. kids have ragedy clothes ive never seen so many naked babies running around.

the children are crazy they are walking so soon, they are carrying their simblings on their back when they are just old enough to walk!! its crazy! the kids here are amazing! i have to hide my water so kids dont steal it and drink it! we never go back to the apartment so i have to carry my water around but its sad.
umm im loving it here we have a lot of investigators! we are supposed to get two new inv. everyday which is hard to do because we have to find those with certain requirements, which is sad but the president said we are setting the foundation so we have to find the elect! oh goats, chickens, sheep, cows, dogs and cats are everywhere!! seriously everywhere!! but idk what else to say.
if you have any question just ask and yes my comp is awesome! we get a long really good. he thinks im hilarious because of my accent and the things i do but i love you all and miss you i hope you have a good week!

P.S. read the book of mormon! I know it to be true and it is the most pure book on the face of the earth! i would like to invite everyone to read it especially 3 nephi 11 that is the most powerful scripture and probably my favorite! i love you and miss you!!

Special Thanks To...

So while I'm on my blogging kick,I thought now is probably a good time to thank everyone that has helped me with all of JT's packages, and letters. It's been SO fun and quite the experience!

A HUGE thanks to my little sister Marquelle (AKA Marki) and for all of her help! She has taken many many pictures for me and has even let me use her camera and lap top for projects! (those two items are her BABIES) But i can't thank her enough! It's been so fun and I will always remember the fun times we've had with our projects! Love you Mark!

Thanks #2 to my sister Britny!! I don't have any pictures of her, but she has let me use her Costco account every time I've ordered pictures and has even gone and picked up my orders countless times! And not to mention she has a busy life of her own with 3 little babies! Love her!

Thanks #3 to Kya and Brygunn! They are the kids I nanny, and they have spent MANY afternoons with me running around town to different craft shops, the post office, Costco, all around town for pictures and of course swig! They are so cute and love love love picking up mail with me and sending letters!

My last thanks is to the people at the post office on telegraph. Haha we are all on first names bases and they have A LOT of patience with me! One time the mailman even waited for me to drop off a letter! (I was like five minutes late!) Haha but thank you post office people! It's been real!

There are lots of others that have helped me and have given me cute ideas! So THANK YOU EVERYONE for your support and time!!

The last couple of pictures are from the latest project marki and I did! It was some picture of books of popular places around STG and Diamond Valley, for JT's newest companion.

He Made It!! He Made It!!

I will post pictures of what he has sent us so far, and his first email in the field. Yay for P-days!

"jabalei everyone,

so im finally in Africa and it is amazing we got here saturday night and president Jackson and the APs picked us up at the airport. it was crazy i stepped off the plane and looked down and saw a bunch of people walking around with ak-47 which was kinda shocking! But we stayed up til like 1:00 talking. The APs are so funny, i love them!

Sunday we woke up and went to church in a little branch! the people are amazing and so humble i had three kids hanging on my arm all throughout church. junior issac and travis were just hanging out with me! umm during sacrament this like 2 year old came up to me and just looked at me so i stuck out my arms and he crawled right into them, he was so cute! he sat on my lap the rest of sacrament! then the boys took me to primary where elder mair and myself taught them all about prophets and during sharing time they get juice and crackers, which is awesome! the teachers give the elders like a full glass of juice and a handful of crackers! this one boy that was sitting on the floor by me was eating plastic...so i opened my crackers and gave them to him! He was so happy and every other cracker he would put in his pocket to save it and same for his little sister! these people are so amazing and i love them!!

But after church we went to president Jackson's house and ate lunch and had a lot of training lol and found out where we were all going. umm elder salakielu is going to Ethiopia, and elder edman is going to Rwanda. Everyone else is in Uganda. Uganda is crazy! The driving is insane! People just pass whenever and stuff, its nuts but very fun! my companion is Elder Mbobosi. He is from south africa i met him like 20 min ago..so i dont know much about him. but so far he is really nice! and my first area is Bubembe or something like that..but its like 2 hrs. away from Kampala. some pictures ill send i crossed the river Nile, which is huge and yeah idk what else to say but that?
and the language is confusing. They speak many but mainly english and lugandan."

When I talked to him on Monday he said he was in a hurry and to excuse all of his typos! Haha! He seems so happy and so excited to finally be in the field!!! He also said that his mission president is one of the most huggable people ever! Lol and the guy in the last picture bought all of the elders lunch at cafe rio in the LA airport!

MTC Pictures

Elder Stewart entered the Provo MTC on April 17th. He met his companion Elder Mair (from Vegas) and quickly went to work! He was called to be Zone Leader after two days and loved every second at the MTC. He says that it was hard work and LOTS of studying. He loves his Comp. and especially loves teaching. He ended up staying a week later than expected (due to late Visa's) and left for Africa on May 10th. Here are some pictures that we received from Elder Stewart.
