I am not even sure if this weekend is officially called "Presidents weekend" or what the deal is...but I think that's how I'm supposed to say it? Maybe not...but last Weekend Skylei talked my mom & mark to take us girls up to Springdale and Zion's for the weekend.
So we quickly packed, stopped in hurricane and loaded up on treats, (If you want to try the best treat of your life, I HIGHLY recommend 'Australian Green Apple Licorice.' It is to DIE for.) got somewhat comfy between all of our crap. Examples:
blankets/pillows
Marquelle's big ol' laptop & fancy camera
Backpacks
Eventually we made our way up to Springdale. (I've come to love that little town lots) We drove up through Zion's and stopped at "The Narrows" and did a little hiking. Once we realized we have walked that path before, we turned around, found the truck and headed to dinner haha. Obviously we are a very outdoorsie family ;)
We had dinner at THE CUTEST little pizzeria. It's called "Pizza and Noodle Company." We ordered the Focaccia pizza, and BBQ chicken of course. Both were fab!
We made our way back to the lodge and played poker with life savers as chips, and 21. Oh & of course Slap Jack, at which I DOMINATE at. Seriously! Ask JT ;)
The next morning we ate at 'Wildcat Willys.' I am so proud of myself too, because I tried an omelet for the first time. (eggs make me sick. like for reals. they smell weird and the texture grosses me out.) But I toughened up and ordered the egg and I cant even tell you how glad I am that i did. It was AMAZING. it had green peppers and ham. ( and i dont even like ham!) but it was seriously SO GOOD.
Anyways after breakfast we explored Grafton (an old ghost town on the outer skirts of Springdale) and The old Grafton cemetery. It was so cool and creepy at the same time.
After our exploring time, we drove through West Zion's. seriously some of the prettiest views. Most of the snow had melted and we were lucky to make it to the top of the mountain! Good thing we were in the hummer! It was so steep and the snow was all slush! To say the least, if we had been in the Miata, we probably would have made it up a quarter of the mountain and rolled backwards off one of the cliffs haha!
It was a fun weekend and some good quality time spent together as a family. I love Springdale and its the perfect little place to get away to!
